The console is the web side of SIT-IoT: console.sit-iot.com. Where the mobile app is for commissioning a device on site, the console is for managing all of them afterwards, from any browser.
The console manages devices of every generation — Gen2, Gen3 and Gen4 — the same ones the app provisions.
What you do in the console
Devices
The full inventory, with what you need to tell whether something is wrong without driving out to look:
- Identifier, type and status of every device
- Last seen — the first thing you check when a unit stops answering
- The firmware version it is running
- Its MQTT topics for telemetry and for commands
Projects
Devices are grouped by project — usually a home or a client. The project defines the MQTT namespace the devices belong to, so each installation stays separate from the rest. A device can be transferred from one group to another when it changes hands.
Users
Accounts, and who has access to what. Each device can have an assigned user, which is how an installation is handed over to the end client without giving them access to everything else.
Live telemetry and plan
The data the units send refreshes on screen while you work, so you can see the effect of a change without reloading. The console is also where you check the plan you are on and what it includes.
How it fits with the app
The normal flow is this: you provision the device on site with the mobile app, it is bound to a project, and from then on you see it and manage it in the console. Two tools for two moments of the same job.
